Chosen By The Funk Presents: Rick Wilhite

Chosen By The Funk returns to The Hook and Ladder Theater with a house, funk and disco dance party featuring Detroit's "Godson" Rick Wilhite. Over a career spanning 30+ years, Wilhite has made a name for himself as a producer, DJ, and record store owner. A member of the supergroup 3 Chairs (alongside Kenny Dixon Jr aka Moodymann, Theo Parrish, and Marcellus Pittman), Wilhite is at the vanguard of the Detroit house music scene. In 1996, he became the first artist not named Moodymann to release an EP on the famed KDJ record label. His bond with the Minneapolis Sound was put on display with his song "Dreams Of Yesterday", which samples two different Prince songs. Rick will be joined for the evening by DJ Nola and John Hardy, two of Minneapolis' finest funk, disco, and house selectors. See you on the dance floor!
